SKILL DOVE LTD TO PARTNER WITH WEST POKOT COUNTY GOVERNMENT TO LINK STUDENTS STUDY AND WORK ABROAD

H.E. Governor Simon Kachapin and his deputy H.E. Robert Komolle have met a number of key partners from the Education sector led by Skill Dove Ltd to seek solutions to challenges in the sector and change societies through scholarships and work opportunities abroad.

In partnership with universities in Canada, Finland, Poland, USA, Australia and Hungary, Skill Dove Ltd seeks to link students from Uasin-Gishu, Nandi, Elgeyo-Marakwet and West Pokot to study and work abroad.

Governor Kachapin and his deputy expressed their commitment to work closely with the partners to ensure students from the county can access such opportunities. 

Governor Kachapin highlighted key gaps in the sector and said his administration will work with partners to breach these gaps by offering scholarships and work opportunities in advanced countries.

The team was led by Nancy Lelei, Director- Skill Dove Ltd and Mika Kortelainen, Director- Laurea University who were accompanied by Simo Mustila, CEO & Chairman- EduExcellence, Anna Vekka, Partnership- Education and other representatives from Skill Dove Ltd and Education. 


Present were CEC Jackson Yaralima and Director Geoffrey Kasiwai from the Department of Education & Technical training.


Countries such as Finland and Canada are  experiencing inadequate workforce, especially in the field of medicine, and the gap is expected to go higher by 2030, hence providing immense opportunities to students from countries such as Kenya.

Earlier on, the governor had met with representatives from the KCB Bank and ABSA Bank respectively.
